Susan Renee Fisher
I find you irresistible.
Blackened face upon a blackened silhouette.
Silent.

With indescribable intoxication your soul careens forward
Bordered by the fiery hues of the sun
That throb from the darkness, screaming;

Afflicting my spirit, one by one
Like beads to be counted and sewed.
Are they grainy or smooth like porcelain?

Perhaps rubbery and melted under the sun.
A tell-tale sign of the life hidden behind
What they disguise.

Begging for the coolness of the sea
But haunted by this heat of existence.

No man is an island, the preacher said.
Yet together, are they not as one?
Memories overlapping as time is skewed.

I seek solace in our isolation,
But will we ever be alone?

Punctuate my world.
